This dance work is an energetic yet humorous and sensitive look into Australian culture through the lens of Tim Winton’s novels.
Courtney Scheu is an emerging dance artist based in Brisbane, who completed her Honours in Choreography at QUT in 2012. In collaboration with various artists, Courtney has presented work for QL2’s On Course, 2High Backbone Youth Arts Festival Brisbane, Brisbane Dance Industry Night, Brisbane Fringe Festival, Crack Theatre Festival, Ignite12!, Anywhere Theatre Festival and You Are Here. Courtney was selected to perform with Tami Dance Company in the improvisation work PeepDance in the Brisbane Festival 2011 and as part of the Architecture Biennale 2012 (Venice).
Michael Smith began his undergraduate studies at QUT in 2011, undertaking the BFA in Dance Performance. Micahel performed in Dance. Indie Dance. and Anywhere Theatre Festival 2013. Michael’s exposure to improvisation and improvisational scores in a performance context grew throughout his participation in a QUT Honours student’s research. As a result of this experience, he is inspired to delve heavily into the relationship between choreography and improvisation.
