Carly and Troy do ‘A Doll’s House’ explores gender, power, personal desire and nineteenth century Norway…maybe.

Emma McManus is a director, performer and musician. She has trained at the University of Wollongong (BCA Hons, Class 1), Lancaster University (UK) and The ANU School of Music (MuST program). She is one of the founding members of performance collective Applespiel having most recently performed in By the Sea, Freedom at the Festival of Dangerous Ideas and Applespiel Make A Band and Take On the Recording Industry at Performance Space. Credits outside of Applespiel include developments at Merringong Theatre Company for 5 Moore St and at PACT Centre for Emerging Artists with Soothsayers (Bodysnatchers). She has directed …and His Three Daughters (fca BCA Hons piece), You Were Wild Once Don’t Let Them Tame You (fca) utilising a new lighting system developed by Toby Knyvett, 65 Hours (Nuffield Theatre UK) and Pope Paul by Vincent Pendergast (new writing double bill, fca). She is a trained musician and composer, having written music for and performed with a variety of different bands including the Canberra based group Lady Grey.

Carly Young is an emerging performer and theatre maker, having just completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts, Honours (Class 1) at the University of Wollongong and currently undertaking an internship with Tamarama Rocksurfers Theatre. Prior to this, she completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts, Performance, also at the University of Wollongong from 2009-2011. In 2012, Carly co-directed and starred in Caryl Churchill’s Far Away with Rose Maher, and previous theatre credits include Ant. & Cleo. (2011) directed by Tim Maddock, The Love of the Nightingale (2011) directed by Tim Maddock, and Animals in Paradise (2010) directed by Mark Rogers. Carly is a founding member of re:group performance collective and co-devised the group’s first collaborative performance, Floorboards#01, in January 2012.

Troy Reid is a theatre performer, devisor and a founding member of Applespiel. As a member of Applespiel Troy has been devising and performing work since 2010. He has developed and presented work for Festival of Dangerous Ideas, Underbelly Arts Festival, Next Wave, Sydney and Adelaide Fringe Festivals and Performance Space. His credits outside Applespiel include …and His Three Daughters (Dir. Emma McManus), Soothsayers (Dev. Bodysnatchers) and short video works in collaboration with Kirby Medway.
