In the Circus of the Mind panic is a cage. Twenty young people set their imaginations free by using their experiences of anxiety, fear and hope to create this new work.
Erika Gelzinnis is passionate about working with youth and enabling them to use their creative talents. Over her many years as a performer and arts worker she has explored the areas of mental health and disability through inclusive arts practice.
Scott Gelzinnis is a local musician and arts worker who uses his skills to enable young people to find their musical voice through performance and composition. He is excited to collaborate on the development phase of this challenging work.
Rachel Jacket’s enthusiasm for devising new work with young artists has been nurtured here in Newcastle. She cannot wait to create and share this exciting new work with such an innovative team.
Ensemble of Young Artists: Our cast and collaborating artists are locals aged from 13-18 years. They bring varied skills and experience to the project. They share their stories through music, drama, circus, creative writing and other arts.
