Andrew McInnes

Andrew’s work is entertaining, darkly comic, visual theatre, embracing heightened theatricality. He has been active in traditional and experimental theatre in Sydney and Newcastle as a director, writer, movement director, and performer since 2008. In 2017, he completed a Master of Fine Arts (Directing) at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). A graduate of the University of Newcastle’s Drama program, he also studied gestural theatre and mime at l’Université de La Rochelle.

Earlier this year, Andrew directed ‘MARS: An Interplanetary Cabaret’ at Bondi Feast, ‘Dead Centre/Sea Wall’ with Stooged Theatre, and assistant directed ‘The Effect’ with Andrew Henry and Red Line Productions.

Andrew’s directing credits in 2017 included a music video for ‘Find You’ by Tim Ayre in collaboration with Triple J and Rage, and ‘UBU’ at NIDA, a new response to Alfred Jarry’s Ubu plays.
