Chelsea Needham

Chelsea is an actor, musician and creative. Having just finished studying at Actors Centre Australia, (Graduating class of ’17), Chelsea has been newly appointed as resident Music Director and Actor for The Revolt. This role has seen her travel to the Adelaide Fringe (March, ’18) with a reprisal of their most recent production, Euripides ‘The Bacchae’.

Originally from Canberra, Chelsea has received two Canberra Area Theatre Awards for Best Actress in a Musical/Play. She has recently had the pleasure to inhabit; Stevie Grey in ‘The Goat or Who Is Sylvia’, Lyubov Ranevskaya in ‘The Cherry Orchard’, Emily Kapoor in ‘Disgraced’, John Wilkes Booth in ‘Assassins’ and Elizabeth Proctor in ‘The Crucible’, working with artists such as Gale Edwards, Maeliosa Stafford, Adam Cook, Pearl Tan, Anthony Skuse, Genevieve Hegney, Sarah Giles, and Simon Hunt.

Within her musical background, Chelsea plays regular acoustic gigs and cabarets around Sydney. While she specialises in vocal looping, she is also an accomplished jazz vocalist, pianist, trumpet player, composer (contemporary, jazz and film composition) and arranger. She currently teaches for the Australian Girls’ Choir.

As well as an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting), Chelsea also holds a Bachelor of Music: Jazz Performance (Vocals & Trumpet) with Distinction and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology & Philosophy) from UNSW.
