When I dream, I see myself as light skinned with brown hair. Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and I am shocked to see such distinct Asian features. I am consistently mistaken for Chinese but when I bounce back with pride in my Cambodian heritage, I am unable to answer questions about the geography of the country, the language and the specificities of the culture.

come here, kom-my is a solo show in dire need to discover what being a second generation New Zealand Cambodian means for myself and how the uniqueness of Cambodian culture interacts with our society.

Created and performed by Michelle Ny

Michelle Ny graduated with a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Acting) from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School in 2014 and has since starred in two feature films both successful in international film festivals: The Rehearsal and independent feature, Chronosthesia. She has worked with internationally acclaimed director, Jane Campion and most recently, Silo Theatre on REVOLT. SHE SAID. REVOLT AGAIN. Michelle recently moved to Sydney in hopes to connect with exciting creatives.
