Son of Satan’s Wife the Fourth

Thursday 28 September, 6:45-7:45pm
Watt Space Gallery

Being the son of Satan’s Wife is not fun, but life can get funny and confusing when your mum has multiple personalities.

Erika is a 52-year-old theatre-maker living with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and caring for her son who has anxiety and depression. Cosmo is a 17-year-old musician living with depression and anxiety and caring for his mother who has DID. It’s hard to be a good mum when you forget who you are, and that you have children…

When Erika joins the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) she feels like she’s been given an invitation to a new life. But, beneath a mounting pile of incomprehensible bureaucracy in the aftermath of a terrifying mechanical restraint in hospital, she discovers that being funded for support does not necessarily lead to being supported.

Created and performed by Erika and Cosmo Gelzinnis.

Cosmo Gelzinnis
Cosmo is an eighteen year old student, almost (a week off!). He’s a local check-out chick at the corner store but is working towards becoming a composer. Underneath receipt rolls, homework and half written songs he’s just a kid trying to make it as a singer/songwriter. He’s worked on other projects such as The PANIC Project, A Midsummers Nightmare and The Storm Creative Exchange and is part of the Talent Development Program.

Erika Gelzinnis
Erika has a Masters in survival. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is helping her with her ongoing research. She has a long history in collaborative and community art projects, both large and small scale. As an outsider she feels she has wisdom to share but it’s hard when you’re invisible.
