Support Us

Our vision is to foster a community, where artists support each other as peers by encouraging communication and collaboration. Our aim is to continue to promote access, experience and opportunity for emerging and established artists and audiences, by providing a safe haven to support creative minds.

“I love that Crack Theatre Festival was such a great way to take the next step with my performance project. The festival is so open to experimental new works, to pieces that are still working out what they are. This was a perfect opportunity to show my work to a supportive and kind audience, to push myself and the work and see what it becomes in a new city.” – Bonnie Cowan, Artist

In 2018 we will support over 80 artists to present 32 new works in our 10th annual Festival event, this year titled Crack X.

86% of artists programmed in the 2018 Festival are under the age of 35, and 88% identify as emerging in their careers.

Now that we’ve hit double digits, we’re trying something new. We’re more than theatre. We’re a Festival of new performance, made by new artists and experienced artists trying new ideas, entirely programmed from open submissions.

We remain committed to offering the Festival free of charge to artists and audiences alike, with no artist registration fees and a majority of free events.

The Festival is run by a dedicated team of emerging arts workers and artists who volunteer their time to make this event happen. We rely heavily on these volunteer hours and in-kind support, with periodic project-based grants for programming, travel, marketing and production costs.

In the last 10 years, Crack Theatre Festival Inc has supported the presentation of more than 300 new works by 800 emerging and experimental artists from around Australia.

Help support the next generation of Australian artists by donating now.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible, and gifts over $50 will be acknowledged as Festival Supporters on our website and social media.
