NO SHOW is a joint project between Melbourne-based theatre-makers Mark Pritchard and Bridget Balodis who are experimenting with new ways for audiences to encounter stories in live spaces. Unfinished Business is the latest in a series of projects stripping theatre back to its roots in myth, ritual and the power of shared live experiences. Our works are an ongoing investigation into our innate connection to these social rituals, working with the complicity of the live audience in the construction of the piece. For this project we are collaborating with performer Emma Hall.

Bridget Balodis trained as a director at the VCA and Australian National University. Her recent directing/devising credits include NO SHOW productions Outside Line (Pop Up Playground’s 2013 Fresh Air), The Séance (2012 Melbourne Fringe), Shotgun Wedding (2012 Next Wave Festival). Bridget’s other directing credits include Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (Pony Child, 2013), Trimda by Janis Balodis (Kultūras Dienas, 2010), Mud (VCA, 2010), Hoods (NORPA/Street Theatre Canberra) and The Eisteddfod (Street Theatre). Bridget was assistant director on Daniel Schlusser,’s production of The Histrionic (The Malthouse/STC, 2012) and has completed directing secondments with Melbourne Theatre Company, Elevator Repair Service in New York and La Boite.

Mark Pritchard is theatre maker trained at the VCA (PGrad Dip. Directing), PACT, and the University of Wollongong (BCA Performance). He creates immersive performance experiences with Bridget Balodis under the name NO SHOW, including ‘Outside Line’ (Pop Up Playground’s 2013 Fresh Air), ‘The Séance’ (2012 Melb Fringe, LaBoite Indie 2013) and ‘Shotgun Wedding’ (2012 Next Wave Festival). Mark’s other theatre directing credits include Amy Herzog’s ‘4000 Miles’ (Red Stitch Actors Theatre, 2013) Joe Orton’s ‘The Ruffian on The Stair’ (VCA, 2010), Mark is currently interning with Aphids, and undertook a Besen Family Artist Placement in Dramaturgy with Malthouse Theatre for 2013.

Emma Hall is a performer and theatre maker trained at the VCA (BDA Acting 2012) and Canberra Youth Theatre.
