When an alien girl discovers Earth’s music, she sends a message across the space waves hoping to connect with a human. She finds a friend and together they discuss art, music and civilisation questioning what it is that defines our culture as humans. In this lo-fi, sci-fi, rom-com, theatremaker and electronic music vocalist Alia Syed Rose creates and performs the songs using vocal effects and live looping. In combining loop-based music production and narrative storytelling Mixtape In Space presents an experimental new style of music theatre – along with an unapologetic amount of Star Trek jargon.

The Late Night Lab series is entry by donation. Please bring cash along to donate at the door.
